3 Energy Hacks Stronger Than Coffee
(Because Alani and dry shampoo can only do so much.)
Written by Jamie Landers
…“Why am I so exhausted ALL of the time?”
…“I miss having energy.”
If you’ve ever laid in bed thinking, “Why am I still exhausted? I did nothing today,” congratulations. You’re not lazy. You’re likely running a body that’s screaming for help.
And no, more sleep isn’t fixing it. Neither is that extra iced coffee, the magnesium you meant to take, or the 30-second meditation you tried before snapping at your kids.
Something deeper is going on. Let’s talk about it.
Raise your hand if this sounds familiar:
You sleep a full night
You wake up groggy
You live in leggings or sweats
You forget basic words like “spatula”
You fantasize about moving into a cabin with zero noise and a weighted blanket
This is not just adulthood. This is burnout dressed in yoga pants.
Because if your body is exhausted after sleeping, something isn’t actually resting.
3 Reasons You’re Still Exhausted
1. Your Stress Hormones Are on a Trampoline
Cortisol was designed to rise and fall like a gentle wave. Yours? It’s acting like a toddler at a birthday party i.e., sugar high, red dye rage, and zero chill. You’re tired but wired. Snappy. Teary. Then back to pretending you're fine. This isn’t you being emotional. It’s your nervous system waving a white flag and begging for backup.
2. Your Diet is Basically Caffeine and Crumbs
Coffee isn’t breakfast. A granola bar from your glove box isn’t lunch. If your blood sugar is bouncing like a ping pong ball, your energy is doing the same. Crash. Burn. Repeat. Your body can’t run on caffeine, convenience, and vibes. You need real food that speaks in full sentences, not just snacks that whine. I am all about hacking life, however, when it comes to survival mode, this should be a rare instance, not the norm. Living off dry shampoo and Alani may keep you upright, but eventually you’ll end up with a white scalp, no teeth, and a questionable scent.
Survival mode looks cute for a while. Then it starts taking things from you, like your sanity, your patience, and your ability to remember why you walked into the kitchen.
3. Your Gut is Holding You Hostage
If you’re bloated, irregular, or just feel "off," your gut might be throwing the whole system into chaos. It’s the control center for your hormones, immune function, and even your mood. When it’s inflamed, your body spends all its energy cleaning up the mess which leaves you dragging through your day like someone hit you with a sleep dart.
3 Habits to Start Today
1. Eat a Real Breakfast Within One Hour of Waking
Coffee is not breakfast. Neither is the crust from your kid’s waffle or whatever bar was in your purse from last October. Your body needs actual fuel, think protein, healthy fats, something that grew in the ground or had a mama. Try eggs, avocado, a smoothie that doesn’t taste like sadness. You’ll feel less crazy by 10 a.m., promise.
2. Get Outside in the Morning and Again Before Sunset
THIS IS HUGE. Just step outside. Let the light hit your face. Sit on the porch. Walk ten minutes, or just be in the sun. This resets your internal clock, chills out your nervous system, and reminds your body it’s not stuck in a bunker. Bonus points if you leave your phone inside.
3. Take Magnesium Glycinate at Night
This is the stuff your frazzled brain and tight shoulders have been begging for. Magnesium glycinate is like a lullaby for your nervous system. It helps you sleep, helps you poop, helps you stop crying over cheese commercials. Most people are low on it and just trying to survive on fumes. Take it before bed and thank me later.
Listen, you’ve done what you had to do. You’ve adapted. You’ve coped. You’ve pushed through when your body begged for a break. But you don’t have to stay in survival mode.
You don’t need another quick fix. You need someone who sees the whole picture—and knows how to help you rebuild your energy from the inside out.
That’s exactly what the Energy Reset Protocol was made for.
